This blog post goes hand in hand with another blog post about Marble Rocks at Bhedaghat, Jabalpur.
Dhuandhar Water Falls are stone’s throw away from the marble rocks and definitely worth the visit. These waterfalls are not very tall in height but the force with the water gushes out downstream is enormous. And the water makes a roaring sound when it takes the plunge, that can heard over a distance.
"Dhuan" in Hindi means smoke and as you can see in photographs below, the waterfalls indeed create a "smoke" as they come roaring down the rocks.
Viewing platforms have been made on the bank of these falls that is approachable through the entrance. Here you can enjoy the beautiful falls with little drops of water pouring over you. You can cross over to the other side of the river via the ropeway. The ticket costs Rs.75 (two way) for the same and it offers a panoramic view of the waterfalls from above. This offers the place a bit of an adventurous streak.
There are small shops lined outside both the attractions which sell small souvenirs made of soapstone. The carvings on some of the artifacts is really intricate, leaving you amazed with the creativity. You really need to brush up on your bargaining skills before you buy from here.
All in all these two attractions are definitely worth a visit. The visit to both these places can take up around about 4 hours. One challenge is these are the only significant attractions in vicinity, so you will need have to plan your visit accordingly.
